LEED (which stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is an internationally recognized green building certification system developed in the US. LEED also has a rating system that is specifically focused on commercial interiors. The key areas LEEDS looks at in commercial interiors are:

  • water efficiency
  • energy and atmosphere - lighting, equipment and appliances
  • materials/resources - furnishings and finishes
  • indoor air quality - materials, sealents, adhesives, paints, coatings, carpets, woods,
  • daylight, heat control
  • innovation - design

LEED CI is one of the few systems available in the construction sector that has a rating system specifically geared towards commercial interior design.
