The Outsiders Store marks their first birthday with the opening of a second store at Coal Drops Yard, London King’s Cross.
The impressive new development centres on the conversion of two 19th Century coal warehouses into a public space and retail and leisure destination https://www.coaldropsyard.com
The retail areas at Coal Drops Yard are unique in size, shape and format, framed with restored arches and black wrought iron - the original Victorian features of the structure that are still very much in evidence.
The store conveys the strong brand ethos of sustainability, including the use of FSC-sourced timbers, a natural Marmoleum floor and the use of recycled materials incorporated into the environment. In addition, all the perimeter fixtures are mobile and lightweight – meaning they can be flexibly configured and easily wheeled away at the end of the store’s life.
The new mezzanine area is a unique feature, creating additional open storage space and back office facilities for staff. It is designed to look industrial and is consistent with the Outsiders aesthetic, whilst being sympathetic to the existing architecture of the building.
The feature footwear display wall is also a bespoke element of the store, designed to fit into the structure as a lightweight removable fixture. It is also see-through, which exposes the unique fabric of the building sitting behind. Furthermore, the footwear fixture is flexible enough to accommodate displays of clothing or accessories if merchandise ranges need to be switched.
Other notable features include a mobile cash desk and a full height feature peg wall for display of the latest curated collection. New brand graphics are engraved on wooden panels that fit into the pegboard and perimeter wall graphics are hoisted up using recycled climbing ropes and a pulley system, providing a highly flexible display.
As a whole the store is carefully crafted to provide ‘the modern outsider’ with an authentic brand experience.
