Designing Goldie's Lounge

We recently worked with Carden Park Hotel on the design of their new lounge.

We recently worked with Carden Park Hotel on the design of their new Goldie’s Lounge. Carden Park Hotel is a luxury hotel and spa surrounded by 1000 acres of countryside in the heart of Cheshire. Goldie’s Lounge was built adjacent to The Vines, Carden Park’s fine-dining restaurant, and provides an additional option for those wanting an indulgent afternoon tea, pre-dinner cocktails or a light lunch.

Interior designer Evie, who worked closely with Carden Park throughout the project, says “Goldie’s Lounge was a new extension to the hotel which made use of a previously ignored courtyard space. We worked with the architect, as well as the rest of the design team, to bring the building and interior to life. The aim was to create a luxurious space that reflected the ambience and atmosphere of the spa and The Vines restaurant. For the design process, we used the Crittal-style windows as a starting point, taking advantage of the natural light they brought into the space. By incorporating organic and natural features into the design, we gave the feeling of bringing the beauty of the outside in.”

The client wanted a modern-classic style to fit in with other areas of the hotel, and the features we chose for this area were carefully selected to create a space that feels inspired yet refined. It was important to us to ensure that high-quality, British-made items were used where possible.

A key focal point of Goldie’s Lounge is a bespoke lighting feature, providing timeless elegance to the beautiful space. Designed by us and manufactured by Chantelle Lighting, the lighting feature incorporated ceiling coffers to breakup what would have otherwise been a flat ceiling. Within those coffers, we created designs of organic lighting art, with leaf-like patterns growing from the ceiling, washed in a shimmering gold. Turning the lighting feature from a concept to reality was a journey - we were creating a functional sculpture; a stunning talking point which illuminated the entire space.
